Why no one should be a columnist and if they must there should be term limits.
Yes! It has long baffled me why some columnists are allowed to go on for ever. It's not as if they get any wiser, just more predictable.

Probably your idea of hell, but how about more columnists but on a rota? One column a month but properly researched and fact checked.

I always assumed it was the journalistic equivalent of being put on ‘light duties’ - no investigating, no serious research, no need to get out there in the world. Just pontificating from on high.
