Ann Widdecombe's murder has prompted an out break of not-speculating speculating from Nigel Farage, Reform UK, and their friends in the right-wing press.
Even if or when this turns out to be a mentally ill 28-year-old with no political motive, the Reform 'family' will still contrive to turn it into a Golders Green stabbing event with a state of the nation address like Rowley of the Met did. "Politicians not safe in their own homes" will be the cry.
And lo and behold! Just this minute, counter-terrorism police announce they're taking over the investigation into her death. No smoke without fire, eh? Doubtless, some of those celebrating her death on-line will be suspects.
Classic DARVO behaviour. Making themselves the victims. I suppose we can console ourselves that Farage is currently making himself an object of ridicule with the by-election fiasco.
I do agree that the party machine will undoubtedly be discussing two things - how to capitalise on the murder for political support and how to use it to distract from the Farage parliamentary standards investigations. A third thought crossed my mind - the slight disappointment they perhaps may have in Reform UK that the suspect is white british national and not foreign white or foreign non-white? And if you think that thought is cruel and bad taste, well my mind wouldn’t go there were it not for Reform UK and Farage’s own political tactics. They set the tone for supporters and critics alike through their actions.
Bang on, as usual. Small point: I believe Widdecombe's home is in Devon, not Derbyshire.
Have fixed it. Was a minor brain fart! Thank you.
It’s gets worse with Tice’s comment “how many more Reform politicians do you want dead?” directed at the Times. Which is unhinged to say the least.
Absolutely par for the course from him.
frog face makes it all about HIM 🤦♂️🤦♂️
A salient piece of commentary. The quote from Allison Pearson is jaw-dropping.

Yeah, I just heard the headlines!

Thanks, Mic x
Thanks, Suzanne.
You are very welcome 😊

I share all of your thoughts here.
